A Brief History Of
STRONGARM ENTERTAINMENT GROUP

Strongarm was founded about nine years ago by Anthony Winn (pictured above). Joined in support with a group of close friends, Anthony decided to start having parties in Detroit for a select crowd of individuals. Because the parties became so popular within the community, it eventually led to the formation of the group now known as Strongarm Productions. With the creation of Strongarm Productions, the group was able to develop programming to take their parties to new and exciting venues. One of the key accomplishments of Strongarm Productions was being featured in the nationally recognized publication Vibe Magazine. This was a huge milestone for the group because no other such group had accomplished this, especially in a “hip-hop” magazine.
The Strongarm Productions family is comprised of a group of very successful individuals from different professions and industries. This mix of experience and professional power has given Strongarm the support its needed to be so successful in its ventures. Strongarm is also recognized for its generosity and chartiable endeavors. At various parties and events, Strongarm has set-up booths for voter registration, food drives, contests for college students to win money and even opportunities to win gym memberships.
It just less than ten years, the name "Strongarm" has become synonymous with quality productions and commitment to the community. Strongarm Producations is committed to continuing and expanding its presence in the community and finding new ways to exceed and overwhelm even our greatest expectations!
In 2007, with the expansion of Strongarm Productions, the Strongarm Entertainment Group was formed. The family of Strongarm companies under the Entertainment Group include: Strongarm Productions, STRONGARMDETROIT.COM, House of Strongarm and Creative Minds Graphics. | By Imani Williams Originally printed 7/1/04 (Issue 1227 - Between The Lines News) DETROIT - StrongArm Productions event club promoters set out the 'P's June 26 as the seven year old organization presented a 'party with a purpose.' The line wrapped around Milwaukee as people waited their turn to join the crowd of 700 people dancing to funky beats inside the Tangent Gallery. StrongArm, known to Detroit party goers as the premier set throwers, promised more that just your average dance. Saturday's function was community based and was designed to give back while enjoying a good time. Those attending were able to obtain memberships supporting the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History (MAAH), register to vote, and obtain StrongArm college scholarship application packages covering the cost of books for the upcoming fall semester. StrongArm founder and owner Anothny Wynn has his job down to a science. He and his staff of 14 calls Detroit their base, but takes their show on the road to other cities like Atlanta, Chicago, D.C. and Miami. Wynn sees the urgent need to better the lives of StrongArms patrons, who are generally young, black, and gay, and envisions the book scholarships as a start on the road to self-sufficiency for many people. Of the scholarships, Wynn says, "The scholarships came about because of two reasons, one being that the Detroit community has supported our efforts so strongly, and the other is that we really want to better the lives of our young brothers and sisters." Applications for the scholarships will be available through July 24. Applicants are required to write an essay on the pros or cons of marriage for same-sex couples. Two winners will be selected and their names announced during Hotter than July!, July 28 - Aug 1. Wynn stresses that anyone attending a college or university in the fall and taking at least nine credits is eligible to apply. StrongArm has the goal and vision to offer full tuition in the future. Wynn said, "This effort is to encourage young people to be able to see that there are people in the community that actually care and that we want you to do better, and to excel." The 18-25 year old demographic has been overlooked by many as insignificant when it comes to voting. But, key players studying who affects the polls sees the 'hip hop generation' as very viable. "The drive to register voters is to help LGBT's gain our seat at the table." says Wynn. "I believe there are times when you have to force that seat, but we want to get to the position where people see how powerful we are as a group and invite us to the table." He sees taking part in the voting process as a step toward getting young people and the LGBT voice in the game. "The museum (MAAH) belongs to all of us and is just as important to folks here as it is to folks who club downtown," said Wynn about StrongArm getting behind the MAAH's membership drive.
